Oticon is a hearing aid manufacturer based in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was founded in 1904 by Hans Demant, whose wife was hearing impaired. The company claims to be the world's second-largest manufacturer of hearing aids, and uses a management style known as "Spaghetti Organization" introduced by Lars Kolind under his leadership between 1988 and 1998.
An unhappy Oticon hearing aid user wrote the following review with the title: Oticon hearing aids are the worst I have ever owned
Have been wearing hearing aids for 30 years and always had siemens prior to this last set every single pair of siemens still works, they were usually only upgraded after 5-6 years because of the new technology available. 3 years ago I got oticons, not sure which model now but they were crappy right from the get go. They were definitely top of the line aids though, not bottom end lousy sound quality and they did not make it. The first summer without having issues, they live in the heater box at my house, I am also in Arizona where it is hot but dry and they have had repeated issues. They are total junk and I will never purchase another Oticon product or any of their affiliated lines. I need new aids and will probably be going back to Seimens because they have been extremely reliable. Just wanted to share my experiences in case someone is doing research on new purchases.
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says"They have a point system. If you are late clocking in no matter what you get 1/2 a point. If you are late clocking in for lunch you get 1/2 a point. If you call out or get sick it’s 1 point. You only get 2 points during your first 90 days and then your fired. If you do not book enough appointments they WILL FIRE you without warning. There is no grace period. They fired people after two weeks of starting & fired me after a month. I was sick for a week and a few days after got fired. You can’t eat at your desk at all. The coworkers are cool. But it’s no job security. Only take this job if you need something temporary. They have a training class each week bc they are prepared to replace you immediately."
Former Employee - Customer Service Representative says"Managment sells you a dream of an ideal work environment during the interview. They talk about being a "family/team". There's no camaraderie! The department is run like Sales and not Customer Service. It is STILL quantity over quality driven. If you really like HELPING people, this isn't the place! They wants calls answered, that's it! They move seats often so you don't talk to co workers. If you have a complaint about anyone in management, keep it to yourself! There is no help from supervisors with regards to department complaints! Especially against upper managment. The environment is not welcoming despite the fancy signs and big windows. You are micro managed. The manager is rude and abrupt. Runs around pointing at the que monitors! The supervisors act as his patsy and not on your behalf. If you complain to HR, nothing happens. HR is on the first floor. Due to this fact, I believe they are very bias. The turnover rate is ridiculous! You are disposable. Period!"

Former Employee - Manager says"Very poor HR department--changes policies frequently, lacks consistency, and encourages conflict The company is focusing more on building an executive and director club and having "fun" events for the employees and not focusing on solving the problems and driving sales and efficiencies. Upper management are only focused on their personal gains, middle management does not communicate well, has frequent conflict, plays politics and upper management does not get involved. They just sit back and watch."

De Nederlandse afdeling (met onder meer de merken Oticon Medical, Bernafon, Oticon) is echter een slecht geleide afdeling. De werkdruk is gigantisch, het ziekteverzuim loopt de spuigaten uit, er hangt een zeer negatieve cultuur. Het Human Resource Management dateert uit de jaren 80: er is geen cao, er zijn geen doorgroeimogelijkheden, er is geen salarishuis, salarisverhogingen zijn slechts inflatie gecorrigeerd. Kortom, een bedrijf dat alles in zich heeft om een geweldige werkgever te kunnen zijn dankzij een prachtige filosofie en een ijzersterk productfolio maar dat niet is, vanwege de negatieve bedrijfscultuur en een management dat niet in staat is om fundamentele problemen op te lossen. Middle and low level management without a realistic vision over the entire business like a whole. The organizational culture was strong when the company was smaller but it start fading out once it grew. In production the hardest part of the job is to reach the high efficiency which is a common point for any production business. I enjoyed the multicultural environment and the real teamwork in some situation of real pressure."
